Our Favorite Small Businesses:

A Gift Guide

With the holidays coming up, as well as multiple birthdays in our extended family, we thought it might be helpful to share some of our favorite small businesses with you! We have been customers of these shops for years now and can wholeheartedly recommend them.

While we do still buy things at “big box” stores and online retailers, there is something special about being able to support small businesses. It feels good to know we are supporting families in a more direct way, without the extra middlemen that are usually involved with larger companies.

Cheers to intentional and sustainable gift giving this year!

**We will endeavor to update this list if we remember any other shops we might have missed!**

Kids’ Items

  • Treasures from Jennifer – wooden toys, games, personalized name puzzles, homeschool supplies, wall art, craft supplies, and more. Find them on Etsy or through their website.
  • Gina’s Soft Cloth Shop – organic cotton options for wipes, napkins, and paperless towels. We have a few sets from her shop and have used them for cloth diapering, bath time, in the kitchen, for travel, and more. Here’s a link to her shop on Etsy.
  • Under the Nile – organic cotton baby and children’s clothes, textiles, and toys. We have a number of items from this shop and appreciate that organic cotton is their standard, not a material they throw into conventional products to make a sale. Order online through their website.

Personal Care Items

  • Poofy Organics – bath and body products, makeup, nail polish, lip balm, and more. The cleanest and most complete line of makeup Erica has found. Find them directly through their website.
  • Carina Organics – hair care and shower products. Erica enjoys their hair spray + gel, in addition to their shampoo, body wash, and conditioner. Pro tip: If you like the products, next time you order, buy in bulk to save packaging and $. Find them directly through their website for the freshest products.
  • Earthy Browns – local soap maker who also ships his products. Available to order through Paul’s website.
  • OraWellness – oral health products to be used as replacements for, or alongside, traditional toothpastes, brushes, and floss. A very positive, giving, and transparent company that also places value in educating their customers on oral health. And their products work fantastic! Order through their website for the freshest products.

Home Goods

  • BEAN Products – find your “perfect” match in the pillow world (whether standard bed pillow, throw pillow, and/or body pillow, etc.) through their extensive line of non-toxic fills. They also have extended their product lines to include yoga items and shower curtains. Purchase through Etsy or their website.
  • Original Only – hand-painted watercolor artwork at an excellent price point. We have five beautiful paintings from Suren around our home. Peruse ready-to-ship items through his shop on Etsy.
  • Branch Basics – a truly a non-toxic cleaning concentrate that can be used all over your home (see our Recommendations page on the blog or Instagram highlight “Cleaning” or “Cleaning 2” for more information!). Order their products online through their *website!

Clothing

  • Fair Indigo – organic cotton and wool clothing for men and women. Versatile, timeless pieces made to last (definitely a shop that supports the idea of buying better, not more). Here’s a link to their shop.
